Part 2 of "Death in Freeport" this evening, and more fun had. Online play is inevitably slower than face-to-face, but I don't mind that - my brain continues to have problems running short on neurotransmitters and other chemical foundations of mental activity, but more slowly when I can take little recharge breaks and such.
bluelang,
magentamom, and
demiurgent were again all in fine form, repeatedly making me laugh out loud and chuckle as I went. True20 was again a pleasure to run, providing suitably fun and dramatic highs and lows. I do think I want to tinker with a few things, but I'm going to finish off this adventure, at least, before actually doing anything like that.
The adventure itself remains fun, too. This was the information-gathering face, taking the characters from their accepting the opportunity to help Brother Egil find his missing friend through a couple of searches (Brother Lucius's home, by thiefly means, and the Temple of Knowledge, with the help of magical invisibility) to following the not-previously-suspicion-arousing Brother Milos to an apparently abandoned building and discovering *gasp* a hidden passage to an underground lair of unknown proportions! I elided some scenes and expanded others, and it felt reasonably coherent to me. Thorgrim the dwarfen melee-competent rogue didn't get much chance to do his stuff until the very end, but he's got fighting coming up, so it'll balance out. We'll have the big showdown and aftermath next time.
It continues to do me more good than I can say to just be this person running a game for a few friends - no play balance concerns, nothing professional at all, just our specific fun. Mmm. Love it.
